Just to tell you a bit about myself...
This is a picture of me, circa age 3,
I was born in early 1975 to a large family in Virginia. I have 3 brothers and 4 sisters (Yes, that makes 8 kids in my family).
Although I am naturally a klutz, I did manage to survive 15 years of dancing lessons (tap, ballet, jazz, and point).

This is a picture of me dancing (approximately 8 years old).
I have a small amount of talent and a great amount of interest in making both art and music. My favorite instruments to play are the string bass and the clarinet,
although I have been known to stray to other strings and winds. A former member of my high school's choir, jazz vocal group, and gospel choir, I mainly enjoy singing in the shower these days.
Oh, and did I mention that I'm basically a geek? Truly...
After ACTUALLY enjoying my high school career (I did friends' physics homework for fun - and hadn't ever taken physics), I went on to a small, liberal arts college in Virginia. I followed the 6 year plan,
but I did manage to graduate last May with a Bachelors of Science in Math (Magna Cum Laude, Final Honors, Phi Beta Kappa - academic honor society, Kappa Delta Pi - education honor society, Pi Mu Epsilon - math honor society,
and others that I can't even remember).

This is a picture of me in the tenth grade, circa age 15.
Before I graduated, I completed a semester of student teaching. My classes were full of eager and fun 6th graders. I thoroughly loved every minute that I spent with them. Much like the rest of my college
career,
my student teaching semester was fraught with bad luck. About a month before the end, I was involved in a car accident (not my fault) which kept me out of the classroom for over a week and prolonged my semester almost 2 weeks.
Not that I'm complaining, mind you, because I actually was thrilled to get the extra time with my kids. My last day was fun but sad. The kids decorated my desk, made me presents, and hugged me a lot.

Silly hat...
Now, I am working as a professional geek at an economics/engineering firm. I am an "Intermediate
Analyst" who mainly works as a database administrator and part time trainer. This is a far cry from all those years of waitressing (Hi, Outback!).
The people I work with are incredibly smart and professional. It's nice to finally have a job where I don't punch in with a time card/clock or come home smelling like a giant pork chop fell in my shirt. Besides, now I have much more time to update my web page (HA HA HA).

Here's a picture of me, as always, running late for my sister's wedding. I was the maid of honor.
SOOO, it's been a while since I've written. Since that time, I've gotten a promotion (note: I changed my title above... who remembers what it was before?), and done a TON of traveling. In the last 11 months, I've moved into an apartment with a wonderful roomie. She feeds me strawberry smoothies... I feed her brownies. Hey, it's a fair trade. We share a bright and cheery 2BR, 2BA apartment which is in a truly convenient location. Fortunately for her, I travel a lot, so she almost has the place to herself. Since I moved in with her, I've been to San Francisco, Boston, Santa Barbara, Melbourne (FL), Seattle/Tacoma, Oxford (PA), Huntsville, and a few other places I can't recall right now. My suitcases are truly tired.
I've also met a wonderful person. He has inspired me so much, that I've decided to pack my measly belongings and move across the country. The plans for this are still in their infancy, so check back later for more details. Guess it's bye bye Washington, DC for me.
Wanna know what's happened since then?

This is me having a margarita in Tijuana, Mexico. The drinks were cheap but also weak.
